Wednesday 18/04/2012 Lough Key Forest Park - Doon Shore - Drummans Island
Length of boat trip: 2.5 hours
Motto of the day: Exploring Lough Key
A sunny day starts.
The wind has again changed to NE. Today we explore some old navigations on Lough Key. We drive at first around Drummans Island into the navigation east of Trinity Island.
Then we go around Trinity Island and through the new marked course into Erris Bay.
After driving back to the main navigation we go upstream the Boyle River and follow the canal to Boyle harbour.
Back on Lough Key we drive between Church Island and Hogs Island to the route into the northern end of the lake. Here we moor at Doon’s floating pontoon behind Stag Island/Tinarinnow Point opposite Long Island... it seems that luckily a piece of the new installed breakwater at Lough Key Forest Park has found its way up the lake …
We relax in the sun and relax … and I become sunburned. Late in the afternoon we drive back to Drummans Island.
