Sunday 05/05/2013 Mountshannon – Killaloe - Dromaan Length of boat trip: 3 hours Motto of the day: Cruising in company with 'Kindredspirit' The wind has decreased to F3 in gusts F4 and changed from W to SW when we start with sunny spells in the morning to go south.
We arrive at Killaloe when four boats of the Broom owners meeting start, lead by 'Kobold', for Ardnacrusha.
A nice woman from the boat behind and Wendy help us to moor behind 'Tanjuan'. Two Silver Sprays are moored at the new hotel jetty and we are puzzled how to approach it. The jetty is beyond the green markers. Wendy tells me that Fergal, who is surveying for the CSIG on Lough Derg, has found a shallow area in there. The chart of the IBRA (hire boat companies) has the jetty not shown.
It is mild today, really warm and some boaters are wearing t-shirts and short trousers. 'Kindredspirit' arrives and Kevin comes alongside. I walk to the Farmers Market but there are less stalls than usual today; I assume because of the Riverfest at Limerick . After lunch we have a nice ride on the lake, the wind has further decreased. 'Kindredspirit' is speeding around us, but we also can produce some wake. ;)
