Wednesday 01/05/2013 Lough Ballykeeran - Athlone - Clonmacnoise

Length of boat trip: 4 hours

Motto of the day: Circling on Lough Ree and lucky fishermen

The night was calm. We leave Lough Ballykeeran and enjoy a round on the Inner Lakes. We drive around Temple Island to Killinure where we get some diesel.

After that we cross Lough Ree and have a look at Hodson Bay. Passing the islands we drive on to Athlone where again we go shopping.

In the afternoon we lock down and have a slow drive through the Shannon Callows. We are passed by very few boats on our way to Clonmacnoise. The first causes a good wake, but this is ignored by the two swans who are busy with their marriage.

At Clonmacnoise some hire boats with fishermen are moored. One angler of a boat with French people catches a pike. 15 Minutes after the release a second one gets caught. The evening is peaceful and we watch some Godwits on the shore.
