Friday 26/04/2013 Carrick-on-Shannon - Drummans Island
Length of boat trip: 2.75 hours
Motto of the day: In the middle of the elements
The fresh day starts sunny and calm. But later we will have a mix of sun and showers, some again with hail, and increasing wind in the afternoon.
After getting diesel at ESL (the other two lost fenders have been delivered there by the CC-boat) we are lucky and have a dry and sunny drive to Clarendon lock, watching showers passing by some distance away.
After a short shower before the lock a sunny Lough Key welcomes us. We moor at Drummans Island. Later in the afternoon we go for a short ride on the lake.
Back at Drummans we listen to the clattering of rain showers, bird twittering and rushing of gusty wind in the trees. We are sheltered behind the island and watch the spray on the water, whipped by gusts, and also waves going over the breakwater at the Lough Key Forest Park Jetty.
